A former Overland Park man has been returned to Johnson County to face 36 felony and misdemeanor charges involving the alleged sexual abuse of a teenage girl.
Patrick Neal Porter, who already is serving a 20-year federal prison sentence for producing child pornography, made his first appearance Monday afternoon in Johnson County District Court, where he is charged with 18 felonies, including rape, aggravated criminal sodomy, aggravated indecent liberties and sexual exploitation of a child.
Porter, 41, also is charged with 18 misdemeanor counts of contributing to a child’s misconduct.
The charges stem from alleged incidents from 2006 to 2010, when Porter was arrested in California after taking the girl, then 16, from protective custody. His wife, Barbara Porter, was prosecuted in federal court in connection with that incident. She was sentenced to five years in prison for obstruction of justice.
